Thanks, I've read up and down online not to run the 93 tune and 87 because the timing would either retard the timing and defeat the purpose, or detonate. But what about the mid level 91 and 87 octane...

Just a quick question. I have a 2012 ecoboost. I got SCT x3 programmer, I ran the 87 level for a while and thought it could do better. So I put the tuner on the 91 level and it ran a lot better....

There are several check valves in those lines that help hold the vacuum during the change with engine load. If a check valve in line to just that side is bad it could be letting the vacuum drop too...

Just stopping to by to see how everyones IWEs were doing. Im glad this thread after so many years has helped so many. Since the article was written I moved on to a 2007 Screw and never had an issue...

Yes, either lube up those joints and work them around to free them up, or if it doesn't get better, just put a new one in. Not hard to change.

I did this several years ago on my 04 STX, bought on ebay a steering wheel with the buttons, took it to my dealership, they put it on and programmed the computer. All done!

Possible. If water got in the system and seized up the actuator it could be holding vaccum but stuck in the engaged position.
