I don't know anything about the swap, my uncle bought it for his farm but he has one. It's a f350 cab and chassis with a dump truck bed, Detroit diesel, and a 2 speed rear.

Truck column is shorter than a van. I have a tilt van column that I will cut down for one of my trucks when I get around to it.

If you weld to the shaft, preheat, it's hardend....

If you weld to the shaft, preheat, it's hardend. Use good filler metal. Then hope that it's the teeth on the distributor gear that shear and not the ones on the cam.

Welding a lifting lug to it won't be an option for most people since it is aluminum. Soak it, heat (CAREFULLY) it and put a pipe wrench on it and work it out. The propane/map gas torches don't work...

I'm not sure what it is that you find rare about it but it sounds to be a fairly common truck. As far as Hagerty or nada.com values go, in my experience they can be WAY off. For example my 78 4wd...

Personally I think the later flare side beds look...

Personally I think the later flare side beds look better (and easier to find) on a Dent. Our trucks are square and boxy, the round fenders of a 73-79 look out of place to me. It's all just opinion...
