That rocker shaft bolt goes into either the #2 or #3 hole, whichever has the oil passage. The different bolt on each side is the one with fewer threads....longer smooth shaft for oil passage.

I don't understand why a different fuel delivery would compromise your vacuum. I would think more of a timing/tuning issue?

The heat supplied by a handheld propane flame isn't ideal, but it will work and its easy to use....buy or borrow one. Soaking in a mix of 50/50 acetone/trans fluid has worked well for me. It helped...

I would suggest Rockauto as well. The prices on the drums for my 66 dana rear were better than any other source and the quality is very good....correct fit as well!
