Have you checked across the battery terminals with a multimeter to verify what your voltage is while running to rule out a bad voltmeter gauge in the cluster?

You are correct sir. EDIS may come as a coil pack that the plug wires directly connect to or it could be an individual ignition coil for each cylinder.
