460 out of an old lincoln with unknown internals - burns oil like crazy and makes no power!

I bought a 77 F-250 a few years ago. I didn't know much about it -- it's got a 460 (I think it's from a 70 Continental) and I really only use it to tow my boat ~100 miles/year.

This year, I've...

Thanks guys. I drive the truck 2 miles/day and rarely over 30mph. I'll take my chances.

Thanks ya'll -- I inspected the system last night and the only fluid I found was right where the rear brake line goes over the diff. I pulled this all apart and replaced it. Once removed, the spot...

Do the discs and the drums not operate independently? Or do the drums failing result in the entire system failing and/or degrading?

Lost brakes last night.... Question?

1977 F-250. As far as I know it's a factory brake setup -- discs in the front, drums in the rear.

Had the brakes basically fail while towing last night. I was able to get it stopped by standing...

Can you give us more details? I tried to do weatherstripping on my 77 last summer and ended up with a gooey, sticky mess that sagged/fell off after a few days. Been driving around with rattling...

Does this seem right?

1977 F250. 460 w/ a C6 transmission and 4:10 rear end. 33" tires. I seem to be running ~3200rpms at 50mph. Doesn't have a lot left in it at that point. Does this seem right?

No worries! I've always timed engines by feel and ear. When I replaced the dizzy on this one I just played with it until it seemed right. I'll try to grab a light and check it out.

Been that way since I've owned it.

I haven't checked the timing but if I wanted to advance it a little bit, which way do I turn the dizzy?
