Just like jowilker said, all the parts from a 73-79 (complete axle assy) is a bolt in swap for the 67-72. Just make certain you get the brake proportioning valve to go with it.

How about a flex fan, or an electric with a manual switch? I wouldn't think the fan running would bring the engine temp down that much, but I could be wrong.

Since flywheels, bellhousings, starters, and bolt patterns are the same between the 240, 300, 289, 302, and 351W, take your pick. Stick with a carb and points and it's a weekend swap.

I like to use the ones that fit. Seriously I've never been able to buy U-joints for a Ford and have them fit the first time. I ALWAYS have to take the bad one back for size comparison.
