BuckTruck,

Try searching "400, dyno" for some nice rebuilds. Quite a few nice 400's on this site, along with the build details. I like to recommend roller cams just because of all the issues...

Sorry to hear that 351!

Have you considered a roller cam? More money for sure, but better performance and no worries about wiped out lobes. I know Comp offers nitrided flat tappet cams, so that...

Nice looking engine! It's pretty easy to spend that kind of money on a rebuild. It's probably a 325HP or better engine. It never hurts to look!

46Wizzer,

Since your engine has some modifications already...

Do you know what compression you have? Do you have "enough" cam?

Really there are two things these engines lacked in stock...

The good news is that Tim can get you squared away no matter what you decide! He's done the Aussie heads and I think he's still got a special piston for them, as well as stock 351M/400 heads and all...

HVACTOM,

The question about heads begins with this... "How much power do you want to make?"

Gruesome,

Yes, they are for a 351M/400 in a 78/79 Bronco or F-150. My son has what I think are the same headers in his F-150 and I have a set of Hooker Competition headers in my 78 Bronco - both...

For what it's worth - I say keep it FORD. No reason you cannot achieve all of you goals with an all Ford drivetrain, and if you want even more power you can swap up to Cleveland style heads! A good...

Norm02,

Everyone has their own idea of what an early Bronco should be, and it's certainly a good basis for most performance mods. That said, cruising at 70MPH isn't likely ever going to be your...

Yetiman,

Did you re-use that 300,000 mile camshaft? If not did you notice a significant performance gain after you rebuilt it? That's pretty cool to have the truck in the family its entire 47...

Flat tappet cams don't last 358,000 miles! Wow! Many tired parts in that engine as Filty Beast stated I'm sure!

Honestly, I'm no expert, and I don't know the lifespan of a typical flat tappet...

What oil? LOL!!!

Find a multi-grade that makes you happy with your pressure and go from there. I'd probably start with a 10W40 myself. The only time you should have any real concern about what...
