You don't risk losing any compression, those ports go the exit side of the exhaust valve. Ever hear the saying "The answer to pollution is dilution"? That is what an air pump/air injection system...

Heck ya...lift it! Pre-runner style trucks look just as good as lifted 4X4's, just in their own way. Google "F100 prerunner" plenty of pics will come up.

Thats correct, you can put a can of fuel injector cleaner in your next fill up if you want, but don't pay for them to do a high priced service.

So I guess the failure isn't very common. The estimates came back at $6.2K for replacing both heads and $9.2K for a new Ford engine. The decision is up to the bean counters at work.

Since the cam rides directly in the aluminum head casting it makes rebuilding them very expensive. The dealer quoted about $3K for rebuilt heads plus parts and labor to install them...or a Ford...

2009 5.4L camshaft failure - anybody else?

My work truck, a 2009 F150 5.4L XLT Scab 4X4 just suffered a camshaft failure at 161K miles. The Ford tech said it is a common failure due to insufficient oiling to the camshaft. It started ticking...
