There is no PID for engine temp on automatic trans trucks because the PCM doesn't receive input from a sensor. Oil temp is usually pretty close....I think oil normally runs about 5-15 degrees...

The PCM doesn't monitor engine temp so the value you are reading is a ghost number.

Also check for loose bolts where the shift cable attaches to the shift tube. It's under the dash. 3 torx head fasteners. Those have been known to come loose and cause the exact issue you describe.
