They are, in fact, the same length and part...

They are, in fact, the same length and part number from left to right on the original axles. The axle shaft part number is the same for the Dana 41 and 44 from '48 all the way through '56.

Incidentally, those manifolds that Jim has are off of a '63-'65 Falcon/Comet with a 289 - in case that becomes important later. The forward angle of the left one is a dead giveaway.
