The case is either aluminum or steel right? with proper prep, primer and paint I see no issue. I've painted many transmissions and never had a problem, they do not get hot enough to affect the paint....

Radiator worked out fine, nice quality, the only thing to consider is the id/od of your water pump hose and thermostat hose. I'm using a 390 FE and I had to figure out how to get the hoses to fit...

Clean the surface well with wax & grease remover ...

Clean the surface well with wax & grease remover and use Rage Gold, its creamy and flows better than bondo and there is a lot less pin holes, any pin holes you may fine hit them with ever coat...
