I prefer using an aftermarket tonneau though making a custom one sounds like a good plan. Keep us posted if you decided to make your own cover.

35's should fit fine but it still depends on the width of the tires to avoid some rubbing. I think the widest is 12.5 for 18x8 wheels. Take a look at Ultra wheels...

Keep it if you like the ride quality and handling of your rig. Also you can add more aggressive tires with having a lift kit.
