The adjusting screw is accessed through a slot in the back of the brake "plate" (proper name?) Takes a flat blade screw driver in there (or a proper brake adjusting tool!) to move the cog.

Scotchbright pads come in at least two colors (grits) Red and Green. They VERY VERY handy to have around when cleaning/dressing parts!
