I would try taping down that section first. Had the same moulding on my truck it it leaves a lot of residue when you peel it off. Kinda of a pain in the butt to clean up and get ready to re apply.

Same connectors as we use on our rescue truck. They sell rubber covers to keep them clean as possible.
