Both are pretty weak motors, out of the gate anyway. They can be juiced up....to a degree, but still pretty weak. What exactly are you trying to do?

160 is a tad bit low for a street driven motor....oil temps generally run 30 degrees higher than coolant temps, and you want oil temps to reach a minimum of 212 to boil of contaminants....a 160...

I've ran stock style starters on FE's w/headers for years, never had any heat soak/starter failure issues, not even once....

Maybe you're running a bit lean, i.e. hot?

Mini starters have worked...
