Just setting the timing mark to TDC could set your distributor 180 degrees off unless you confirm it was on the compression stroke.

I don't think there is any bellhousing for a 351 that will meet your requirements of a mounting for the hydraulic clutch slave cylinder and have feet for mounting to the crossmember.

The large stud closes to the "s" is for the battery + cable. The large stud closes to the "I" is for the cable to the starter.

Not knowing what valve springs were used but looking at the picture they seem to have three coils close together at the bottom, the broken one has those at the top like it was installed upside down...

Heating + lack of power could be a timing issue, not enough advance can cause both conditions. After setting the timing check that both mechanical and vacuum advance are operation properly.

Hard to guess but if the engine sat for a long period the valve may have been stuck in the open position enough to allow the push rod to drop out when the cam and lifter turned. I would put it back...

Glad you bought the new one, you will be happy with it. I have one on my 57 and another on a 61...

This is a common problem, caps that vent out to the atmosphere were outlawed in the early 70's. So called vented caps they sell today only allow air in. I fought this problem on my non vented tank...
