On my truck, sometimes it connects, sometimes it doesn't. Key off and on again. Try unplugging the adapter and plugging it back in. Exit torque, reboot your phone, and open it again.

If the auxiliary unit works on ground as I assume it does, then all you have to do is run a wire from that unit and splice it into the wiring harness. I'd do it just forward of the fuel tank selector...
