I think it's the parts you are using. I've been driving my Cummins powered 77 F-250 on the dana 44 front axle since the summer of 2010 and still have not had any issues with ball joints or anything...

Have you considered a hydroboost system? It would give you the space needed by the valve covers and increase braking pressure. I installed one on my truck and it made a huge difference.

I'll admit I'm trying to be cheap but I'm also curious. I vaguely remember reading that the vinyl flooring from an obs truck (92-97) fits relatively well in the dentsides but haven't come across it...

I got a set from an early 80's F-350 at the junk yard. I had to cut one small tab on the retractor but otherwise they were bolt in.

Yes, I used a chevy hydro boost that I bought at a swap meet. Some slight adjusting for the mounting, shortened the rod on the booster and hoses. If I remember the cost was around $100.

Looking good! I would suggest doing a hydro boost swap for the brakes while your at it. It was the second best modification I did on my truck.

In the late 80's my dad ran a chevy that had a spacer between the carb and intake. Which allowed it to run gas or propane.
