The carbon build up is a possibility, any way to help that?

Engine noise

Got a knocking noise at 2500 plus rpm in my '77 300. Wondering if it could be a broken piston skirt. What would that sound like?
Noise occurs more under load or if I get on the throttle. No noise on...

Didn't find any cracks, but the ring gear does appear to be slipping. I was able to move it by prying with a screwdriver. Thought about welding it....also maybe "pinning" it by drilling and tapping...

The problem with setting tape on the vent glass...

The problem with setting tape on the vent glass is it gets all bunched up in the corners. You have to pie cut it and use a heat gun to form it to the glass. Very tedious.
You can't force it...

Got a weird problem with my starter on the flathead. When the engine is cold, the starter works great, but when I shut the truck off after driving a while, the starter won't engage the flywheel....
