The auto's do have a rev limiter set at 3000 rpm in park or neutral. No idea of the 55 mph problem.

The 2.5 is not chipped but all the others are. If you have the thief light on the dash that flashes, going to have to go to the Ford dealer - no way around it.

The bearings and axle shafts are the same for both the 7,5 and 8.8 28 spline rear ends, It's the 31 spline 8.8 that takes the larger bearing.

What years came with the PAT's depends on the years and motor. Give away are the size of the keys and blinking led on dash when not running. None of the 2005 Rangers had PAT's for some odd reason....

It's the same cluster for Ranger/explorer 98-2003 all engines. Requires some re-pinning at connector C-214 and C-216 found behind panel. I'd have to look at wiring diagrams to see which.

Best info on the earlier Ranger swaps can be found in this write up. Not all that much wiring need spliced. Only the engine harness is affected.
