That supercharger is a centrifugal one, basically a mechanically driven turbocharger. The thing with that, and turbos, is they need time to spool, more at lower RPM decreasing to none as the engine...

Regarding the air sound, do you see any smoke out the tailpipe? Take a look at your turbocharger air pipes, make sure you don't have a boost leak.

Since it's an 05, that means it's a 5.4 3v triton. Pretty much any 2005 to 2010 3v triton long block will swap in, possibly even from an f150, though the accessory brackets on the front or oil...
