Not the platform i'd start with for a rock crawler. If it was a F350 it would make a good base for a crawler.

I can't speak to a 5th wheel, but I pull a 27 foot travel trailer with mine. Power wise and handling it does well. I have a weight distributing hitch I use.

I did overheat the E4OD backing it up...

It was on the truck when I bought it so i'm not sure who makes it. It is made out of pretty thick steel with diamond plate on the top and has a built in winch mount. I don't believe it's home made....
