My dad's pickup did that. It was an ongoing problem until the oil pump locked up. He was constantly adjusting the timing.

Definitly check fitment before mounting tires on anything you buy. A neighbor of mine tried a 16" aluminum dually on his '79 F350 dual piston calipers but it wouldn't clear. He had to get 17s.
