I'm certainly willing to believe that this could happen in a stiff wind. I have not had messed up van doors but have had multiple home screen doors that ripped any and all check straps or hydraulics...

The 4750 sounds right for an empty cargo van before the conversion was done--I believe my older vans had a registration weight as it left the factory. I would guess you're carrying around 5500+ lbs...
