If the rear of the door clearance is ok I would add metal to the front edge of the door to close up the front gap. 1/8" round rod works well as a filler, weld it on and grind to the gap you want.

It might be more work but on my 47 caddy I cut up sections of seat foam and put them between the coil springs to firm up the seat. Seems to be working well so far, have to do it next on my 37 Buick....

Good to know, I like that they are made in the USA and I have not found one bad word written about them. The programmable speedo makes life easy, its nice actually having an accurate speedo!
