Yeah, but I have to do all of them or it will happen again and soon. Plus it gives me great access to get the exhaust manifolds off so I can get them trued and fix the rampant leaking on both sides....

Plastic ones deteriorate in a different way. The elastomers in the plastic eventually get cooked out and the plastic gets brittle. They last around 15 years. Common Explorer (91+ type) problem.
