I'll add one more point to consider... from personal experience... depending on your engine choice... things can get crowded in the engine room. I had a Volare at first with a 460 block......

One thing I will stress.... don't cheap out on tools...they will only do a bad job...

frame mount fuel tanks are a very common upgrade on old ford trucks... not sure about frame width on yours but here's an article on the 53-56 range trucks... measure your frame rail spread then...
