It's full name is HARMONIC balancer or vibration damper. It's to reduce vibrations or harmonics. It's not for balancing the rotating parts. Hope that makes sense??

Make sure you put sealant on the studs/bolts on the retainer as since they go thru they themselves can be a source of a weepage.

Any of those will work, they all tap into the main oil gallery that runs down that side of the engine.

Except the plug just below the freeze plug of course. That's the block water drain.:-X18
