I am not sure your truck has a computer. Look at the distributor. If you have a silver can on it with a vacuum line you are ok, you already have the dursapark II from the factory.

The wire will work. All the fusible link consists of is a undersized wire with special insulation that doesn't catch fire.

Higher rpm means it would draw more power. I don't think it would be different electrically. The difference is probably what you observed, the mechanical mounting.

I don't know what to tell you. They show the smart junction box being on the pass side behind the kickpanel. The diagram shows the wires coming from the smart junction box.
