Attaching engine to stand

Using soft (brass) washers between the stand "fingers" and the engine block will prevent marring the bellhousing mating surface. If a .005" burr is raised on the block, the bellhousing will placed...

Mystery hole

Could it have been a defect in the casting discovered at the factory, where it was then repaired by boring to a standard size and a cup plug put in?

I don't have the reference book on hand for the exact CC volume, but those are large chamber heads. They should have hardened exhaust seats though.

When you inspect the top of the engine, also check the oil drain back holes in the heads. These can get restricted by crud deposits to the point that the oil doesn't drain back fast enough,...

Left hand drills

I'm not sure where to get the left hand drills in the US, since I am in Canada.
Up here one would have to go to an industrial supply house that sells to machine shops.

Perhaps one of the mail...
