Yes, that small red/blue-stripe having power to it is what engages the relay... if that small wire has power all the time (should have power only in START) then the relay is doing its job.

Ford wants you to start with the lowest-numbered code, the "fix the cavity" methodology... Your jaw hurts, code 23... you have an ear ache, code 44... you have a headache, code 27......

There is a difference between KOEO, CM and KOER codes, knowing what codes came from what sequence is important in diagnosis.

In my experience:

1) If you have codes pointing at the IAC (especially KOER codes);
2) If you unplug it with the engine running and nothing changes.

Then the problem is usually in the IAC...

The parts book says it was one solid window per side 1980-89 BUT 1980/85 part numbers are different than 1986/89 which means something changed. This book only goes up to 1989, I have no idea when or...
