I have a ScanGuage on my 2010 F-350 V-10 and it is worth its weight in gold. I can read actual transmission and coolant temperature and understand what is going on as I climb grades like Wolf Creek...

The same situation existed in 1999. They sold an F-250 based on the F-150 platform, and an F-250 Superduty that was on the Superduty platform. The "light duty" F-250 wasn't available with the V-10,...

I had a 1999 V-10 pulling a fifth wheel that was much heavier than your trailer and much taller to boot. Once I changed the rear end from 3.73 to 4.30 (stock tires) it towed fine. But you've got to...

The short answer is "Yes", going from 3.73 t0 4.30 will make a huge difference in towing.

I had a 1999 F-250 V-10 that I first towed an 8000# travel trailer, and later an 11,000# fifth wheel. It...

I purchased a 1999 F-250 V-10 that originally had 3.73 gears. When I upgraded to a heavier fifth-wheel I swapped those out for 4.30's. Made a huge difference towing. Stayed in overdrive longer and...

I too question that a 30' travel trailer only weighs 5200 pounds. The published numbers for trailers are notoriously inaccurate. The only way to really know is to hit a CAT scale and see what the...

We have a 30', single slide 5th wheel with a GVWR of 13k. It weighs about 11k as we are using it right now. Our 2010 F-350 SRW handles it very well, with considerable reserve capacity on both axles...

I have a '99 that I put a Banks Transcommand in a few years back. It worked great for a couple of years, until one day the truck started to shift incredibly hard. I was unloaded and chirping...

I've read through all of the threads, and I think that there is another difference that hasn't been mentioned. On my truck, a 1999 F250 SD, the stock tire was the LT235-85R16E. On the F350SRW, the...

On my 1999 F250SD, there were two relays (and maybe two fuses as well, been a while) that had to be snapped into a big junction box under the hood. As mentioned above this box has a lot of the...

Sorry for the slow reply, but I've been out for a week. The price did include the gearset. I absolutely agree with Ken04 that the key to getting this done right is finding a good shop to set them...

My gear swap ran right at $850.00. I'd hoped to get out for about $600.00, but once they pulled the gears out we decided that the bearings needed to be replaced as well. My truck had about 40k miles...
