The newer ATF's are not so good as PS fluid. Agree Type F is good, Dextron is good or PS fluid. I've got PS fluid in one classic and Dextron in another and both work fine.

The 3208 has been done... its a heavy 10L engine though. Agree mechanical and simple would be a 12v Cummins. That said, installation and reconditioning of the diesel (as needed) could be expensive....

I have used a moderate underdrive with a warmed up hot cammed engine. With increased idle speed and redline, it basically keeps the WP and alternator speeds in the intended stock range. Works great...
