Another option would be the Mercedes 300d 5cyl turbo diesel from the late 70s thru '85. They are fairly common and parts are readily available. I'm installing one in my '49 F4.

You might use the tube, column drop and shift...

You might use the tube, column drop and shift lever assembly from a '42-'47 Ford car. They can be modified for use with an automatic and would look like it belongs in the truck.
