I would say automatic transmissions. The A4LD is a terrible trans long term. They have so many problems. A 5 speed would be my suggestion or check the auto very very carefully.

cut a round hole through the floor/toe board area to gain straight access to the bolt. Then fill the hole with a rubber plug of the appropriate size.

When I was swapping 5.0s in Mustangs, you could use an auto ECU in a manual situation, but not the reverse. So I would guess , yes you can.
