Solved!

So after all that, the obvious. Either bad fuel gauge or sender unit, float. Truck was out of gas :). Running great!

Thanks for the advice. Bypassed the Solenoid and same thing - starter tries to crank the engine but doesn't get there. Thinking distributor/plugs.

Pump from Miller's came today. There's an old tag on it that says B6C-8501A but the receipt says B6C-8501 A/B. Hope it fits. The casting number is identical to the old one.
