to elaborate the clunk comes from under the cab...

to elaborate the clunk comes from under the cab towards the rear some. If I put the truck in N when coming to a stop and it continues would that rule out the tranny?

the fluid level is fine, no leaks anywhere, the driveline feels tight although there is probably a load on it because my ebrake doesnt work so its in park on a slight incline.

P0401 code

On my 98' f250 4.6L 4x4
My check engine keeps going off and on, I finally pulled the code and its the P0401. The truck pings and knocks now and than and idles a tiny bit rough sometimes but overall...

hard downshift clunk!!!

On my 98 f250 it has started a pattern of hard downshifts, typically after breaking begins and usually 40-60 mph slow downs..fluid is newer and full any ideas?

Yes the noise was there before and after the tc...

Yes the noise was there before and after the tc service. Nothing was noted about the fluid other than ot was broken down and really hot.

Just had tc fluid changed, oil in the dif was...

Just had tc fluid changed, oil in the dif was good, tech said it came out of the tc really hot, auto hub not manual.
