I sent them an email a week ago and haven't heard anything back yet. I'm thinking you're correct that it is dead and more than likely not worth the expense for something questionable.

OK, the thermostat housing is located at the front of the engine, the heater core is mounted to the firewall. Complete opposite directions. Why wouldn't the fittings be facing the opposite...
