Heating the intake will help all around, but if the accelerator pump isn't squirting as soon as the throttle moves that's what's causing the stumble.

My 86 has a resistor wire in the harness to drop the voltage. Looking at a wiring diagram I don't see a resistor on 87-89 models. All of the Duraspark (and points too, so far as I know) vehicles...

To complicate matters more, a 240 head interchanges with a 300 head. The 240 head has smaller combustion chambers (68cc vs. 76cc on the carbed 300, IIRC) but is otherwise pretty much identical.

Yes, the truck has two O2 sensors upstream and one downstream from the converter. I'm pretty sure that's why there's no tailpipe test required for OBDII vehicles in Texas.

Well the truck still has to pass inspection, if it's throwing a code because the converter has been removed it won't pass.

Since I'm replacing the stock 2" headpipes and 2.5" exhaust with 2.25"...

Using those rockers won't hurt anything but it's just not really necessary with a new cam. People *obviously* use them with aftermarket cams all the time - run different ratio rockers on the intake...
