There is an exemption for RVs but its for RVs (campers). Your dump trailer is not an RV. If it has a GVWR 10k or less and you also keep the gross weight under 10k AND it's not used "in commerce" then...

Thank for the replies. The truck is still at his shop. He didn't mention anything about the speedometer not working correctly but I'll clarify that with him. I'll check for codes when I pick it up...

ABS light on after gear swap

I just went from 3.73 to 4.30 gears on my 2007 f250 6.0. It has the standard Sterling 10.5 rear and Dana 60 front. My mechanic friend who did the swap said the ABS light came on during his test drive...

Oh and welcome to FTE. You found a great resource here. If you are considering a gear swap, I got quotes from $2,200 to $3,800 to do my 4x4 f250. Mine will be getting 4.30 gears tomorrow.

Open the drivers side door and look at the VIN sticker. Under axle it will say 3L. That's a 3.73 axle. That won't do you any good if it has been changed by a previous owner but I've been finding its...

Update: My truck will be going under the knife on Tuesday to get 4.30 gears. Going with OEM parts, Mobile 1 fluid, and a Mag-Hytec rear diff cover. I'm going to do some 0-60 testing with and without...

I personally would pass on that truck. Not my thing and the suspension and fender mods suggest it may have been beat on. The egr delete will not pass smog.

"Don't fear the gear." Love it! I was leaning toward the 4.30 and now I'm more confident about that. I still need to shop around a little more for the install. The one guy who actually returned my...

^^ I'm not concerned with gas mileage. My truck uses diesel. 😁

Seriously though, I would expect my city mileage to stay about the same or maybe even improve a little. The truck rarely gets used...

That's essentially what I'm going for. A "tow boss f250." I don't need the payload capacity of a dually but I do a lot of stop and go towing. I wish Ford would offer more rear end choices from the...

Thanks for the link. My main concern is deciding which rear end ratio to go with. I'd hate to go through the trouble and expense of the 4.10 and not really gain anything. On the other hand, I don't...

I should add that I talked to a reputable 4x4 shop that would do the swap. He said a 4.30 gear would be too low and suggested a 4.10. Some of the research I did said swapping from 3.73 to 4.10...
