If I had to commit right now I would say I will use a crate chevy 350 and 700r4. I can access both in new condition and fit my mechanical skillset. I was unaware of the mechanical/cable options....

I totally agree with AX. Stay away from Johnny Law and Hoffman group. Go play with a rattlesnake, at least they give you some warning that you are going to get bitten.
