I know that there are a lot of transmission service centers that will use the older type III fluid and then use an additive that (they state) makes it perform like the newer fluids.

I don't trust...

Do All 2003 AWD explorers have the advance-trac stability control option?

Do All the 2003 AWD explorers have this option? It is my understanding that the brakes are selectively applied to maintain traction.

Or is there another control system in play on the awd EXPLORERS?

I think that the system is pressurized. If you disconnect those lines without relieving the pressure, then fuel will spray out.

I think that most people relieve the pressure by tripping the fuel...

Are you sure you're not talking about the dirty IAC control valve problme that everyone has with there explorers.
It sounds like someone blowing over a bottle.

Cleaning EGR valve on a 97 explorer with 5.0

Before you clean the EGR valve I would check the DFPE sensor. It is probably bad. It's the sensor that tells the EGR system how much flow there is.

It has two pnuematic Lines (rubber vacuum lines)...

The GEM Computer has detected an error with your 4wd system. it is probably caused by a dirty or failed HALL sensor. They are the sensors that tell your GEM computer how fast the driveshafts are...

The loud hum is a stuck IAC valve for sure. It happens to every '95. It might also be causing the rough idle.

It sounds like someone blowing over a bottle

2002 explorer sport DPFE sensor location?

The DPFE sensor should be easy to locate.

It should have two vacuum lines and one electrical connector coming out of it.

On my '95 it is a silver square about 1.5 inch bolted on the right side...
