It could just be that your #1 spark plug is bad and not firing.

Solid core spark plug wires

I'm told that I should be running solid core spark plug wires on my 49 8BA.
My truck is as stock as I can keep it. Still 6V Positive Ground w/stock coil.
The guy at the auto parts store is trying...
