They sell a "spindle socket" just for that, make sure you get the 4 pin one. And if you put on manual lock in/outs, I am pretty sure you will need to put a "part time" kit in the transfer case.

Sounds like a electrical issue, maybe a coil or electronic control module aka (brain box) on the dvrs side inner fender well.

Or maybe a clogged in line fuel filter? Could be the pick up tube...

But what about laying out the trim and use the outer edge of it...
