Abe, I would suggest hitting the frame and springs with a sand blaster, then follow up with wire brushing with an electric wire wheel. Then follow up with a good scuffing with a course scotch brite...

What Im getting out of all this is, that particular jack dolly is perfect for any vehicle where the door is the very bottom of the cab chassis. In case of a 56 Ford F-Series, Perfect!

Charlie, your door dolly appears to be installed on the door in the "shut" position. Some of the cheaper dolly's I see would only work in the open position. Those would obviously only work to slide...
