If that's a ford cover it's more like a 144, 170, 200 & 250.:-X22

No spark on a 78 could be ignition module, ignition coil, distributor magnetic pickup coil, bad coil wire, wiring issue or even a sheared roll pin on the distributor...

I don't have pictures. But I went through all this years ago. I had a 78 F250 4x4 with a 400. I wanted to swap in a 300. I found out the F150 4x4 towers were different. I bought 4 different pairs...

The 1980 and newer trucks are completely different then the earlier trucks. None of the earlier grilles will fit a 1980+ truck. Only 1980-86 parts will fit 1980-86 trucks.

With flickering lights I would suspect either bad grounds, loose or corroded connections or a messed up headlight switch.

Once you do track down the problem you might also want to check into...
