If it's paint, you probably have peeling clear coat. Once the clear is gone, your sander should be fine.

I would disconnect all power from the radio and live without it for a bit. If that cures the battery issue, well, you know where the problem is.

The pedal slowly going to the floor is often the MC. Make sure the rubber lines do not bulge when the brakes are applied.

My money is on air. You read brake post after brake post, and it is clear guys have problems bleeding these things. The pig tail could complicate the bleed. Maybe a vacuum bleed would be worth a try....

Did you bench bleed the MC? Using solid plugs where the lines normally attach?
