OK, now you're just hurting my feelings! I keep detailed maintenance records for all my vehicles. My first F-150 was 18 when it was destroyed, and my wife's Explorer had 214K on it when we sold it....

"Modular" is more to do with factory...

"Modular" is more to do with factory manufacturing set up than engine part swapping.

I grew up when engines were mostly carburated, and did not "talk to" the transmissions. Anything swap-out wise...

The Focus recommendation was a joke (but they do get 30+ mpg in town, my grandson drives one)... I also require a truck on a regular basis. I never meant that you should buy a worn out junker...

If the CEL flashed you likely have a code stored. If your Ford guys give you a discount on parts, ask for the same for a diagnostic. It might work out cheaper than buying & throwing parts...
