I am using the 23 gal. tank from a 88 Bronco II. It has a left hand filler that passes between the frame rail and bed without having to notch the rail.

Wally, sorry, but I went by my old place and the thieves have stripped that truck. All trim, tail lights, marker lights and even took all of the A/C vents and controls out of the cab.

Have heard of problems with Southern Air myself. I have a Vintage Air unit in my 53 and love it. Absolutely no problems in 3 years and probably 40K miles.

What alternator is installed? If it is a Delco, sounds like the energizer wire is hooked to the ignition side of the switch instead of the accessory side.
