Varsity, what if you just keep driving it?? Mine has howled for 20,000 miles probably. Or can this nut be loosened? Or re-torqued? Or is it too late when it is in "howling" mode?

I also had the "shudder" when I purchased the pickup two years ago. I changed to royal purple 75-140 and added the ford limited slip additive. Problem gone. I also have the "howl" issue at around 50...

Don't pull anything heavy so no input there.
Mileage is an average of 14.3 all driving.
Highway top around 16 MPG.
5.4 2004 lariat with 3.73 gears and 18 inch wheels.

Two year average mixed city highway is 14.16 MPG.

High end on road trip is 16. Low end is 12.7.

1262 dollars both cam phasers @ local dealership. This was at miles 73850. At 81100 now all is quiet on the "front". :)
